about
MPLS 2017 or maybe it was 2018. Springtime. There used to be this beautiful bird that would sit in its cage outside of the Chinese grocery store. The man that lived near there had a collection of birds. They were so beautiful. This bird, a white rumped shama could sing. He sang sweetly. I walked by often happy for the song and sad for the cage. One day the bird was stolen. I didn't know whether to be sad or glad. Sadness for what, the bird was in a cage, but to be happy didn't feel right either. The man loved this bird so, but can love exist when it requires cages? These questions have not been answered, but it's 2021 and I am in the prairie. I hear the birds singing sweetly outside of my window. I feed them and I love them, they look free.
